1,250 winemakers give life to the Beaujolais-villages, the first appellation in France to have used the term "villages". In 38 communes of the Rhône and Saône-et-Loire, and 3 geographic zones with marked specificities, these fruity and fleshy wines reflect the characters of their terroirs. Coming from granite and sand soils, the Beaujolais-villages have an intense robe, with cherry or garnet reflections, and reveal aromas of red fruit on the nose dominated by blackcurrant and strawberry. If a third of the production is offered in Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau, the appellation also holds its rank as wine for aging.
